10 Things

There are a few events that I have been meaning to post about for a while.
(My niece's birth & blessing, and my 23rd birthday) But those will have to wait for now.
This post will be "one of those wordy ones" with no fun pictures or anything.

I know it's been a while since I've posted and even longer since I've written anything of significance. I'm out of practice
so I apologize if this post seems boring or silly, but I wanted to share some simple truths the universe has taught me

I watched this TED Talk and was inspired to write a little bit of "my story."
By no means am I a poet or even want to become one, but there have been some pretty big lessons I have learned in this last year, and like she says, "everyone can make a list."

So here they are:
THE 10 THINGS THAT I KNOW TO BE TRUE:
(as learned/relearned in 2013)
  1. God- He is real. He is good. He is everything.
  2. Love should be given freely and abundantly. No such thing as loving too much.
  3. You have nothing if you don't have your health. (hard truth to learn.)
  4. Trust is the most fragile thing you can ever hold. EVER.
  5. Quality friends are more important than the quantity of friends.
  6. Change is good. Change is scary. Change is growth.
  7. Never settle for less than you deserve. Hurts worse in the end.
  8. Good things come to those who wait WORK.
  9. There is no weakness in forgiveness. (that was a big one this year)
  10. Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end.

welp. there ya go.
maybe someday I'll share my list of "Things I should know by now."

Summer 2013

Hello there, Blog World.

Long, looooonnnnggg time, no see. And I'll tell you why...
I have been traveling the country for the past few months being a Building Counselor for EFY.

No one quite understands what EFY entails unless you yourself have experienced it.
I won't try to detail everything that happened this summer because
1- It's too hard to explain,
& 2- How boring for you to read. (for the few that do read this blog)
Just know that there was a lot of growth, fun, laughs, tears, late nights/early mornings, and memories made.
& yes, one eye patch.

Living out of a carry-on suitcase in a new city every week for the past 12 weeks
has made for a very interesting, fantastic, tiring, rewarding summer.
Possibly one of my most favoritest summers of my life, and I can tell you the exact reason why...
the people I spent those crazy weeks with.

They are the reason that I would do it all over again tomorrow
(even as exhausted as I am) in a heart beat.

Meet the "Famori"

{Sean, Jake, Me, Makensey, Jake, Samantha, Erin, Jessie, Ammon}

Basically working 24/7 together, they became my summer family.

Here are some more pictures of the adventures I had:

P.S. I'm having an Identity Crisis

So you may be wondering why my name has changed to "Lynae BAE". Well, long story short, I am one of those people that develop a nickname late in life. For a while, I was at a loss as to what to go by. My college friends in Logan, as well as the majority of EFY-ers know me as Bae. My family and high school friends have always known me as Lynae or even Nae.

There were many challenges this summer between these two names: running into people who don't know you by your new nickname, or having new friends not know you by your real name. Often times people thought that Bae and Lynae were two different people.

My solution: to embrace my new given nickname and change my blog to Lynae Bae. (much to my mother's disliking. "Peolple actually think I named you 'Lynae BAE'" Ha, sorry Mom.)
There. The Best of both worlds.

We Are Family

Well, here it is.
The cliche post about how much I love my roommates.
You knew it was coming....

Call me a cliche sap, but I can't help it.
They've changed my life, so you're gonna hear about them. :)

There are some other best friends that have made a huge difference in me surviving this last semester, namely Dorothy, Jill, Mandi, and Sam, but this post I would like to dedicate to the girls who had to put up with me and my craziness 24/7 in our tiny little abode, Stoneleigh #3.

These girls are some of the best blessings I have ever received,
and because of them I have made it through one of the hardest years of my life.

and yes, we did go take "family" pictures together.
cheesy, I know, but I love it.
& I know you do too.

Tori
or as we affectionately call her,
Tornado

Her nickname might suggest that she is scattered, but she is the most grounded, solid girl that I know. We have developed such a strong friendship this year that we've described it as being "fiercely loyal" to each other.
If anyone has my back, this girl does, and I have hers.

I've never known someone like Tori, who loves people so purely,
or who has such a solid foundation of faith to see past all of the crap that happens in life.
She has a gift of seeing people exactly for who they are, and then loving them straight to the core.

This girl is a rock.
And I mean that in every sense.
Seriously, one of the best examples of someone who overcomes adversity and makes the best of the situation.
Plus, she is a rock star in the Theater Department, winning all sorts of scholarships and awards, not to mention grabbing every roll she ever auditions for.
Talented? EXTREMELY.

Wait and see, this girl will be famous one day...
but I have no doubt that she'll always remain true to her lovable, solid, beautiful self.

{Signature "Girls of Apartment #3" Pose}

Alyssa
a.k.a.
...uhhh... oh yeah. We can't come up with a nickname for her...
{ps. We're Guate(mala) Squatting in the picture above. This girl brings out my silly side}
(She leaves to serve an LDS mission in Guatemala at the end of May)

She might not have a nickname, but there are several words/phrases that are synonymous with her name, such as:
One of a Kind, Center of Attention, Talented, Brave, Fun Loving, Thoughtful, Artistic,
Service Oriented, Faithful, and the list could go on and on....

If I could pick a motto that Alyssa lives by, it would be "GO BIG, OR GO HOME!"
She gives 110% into everything that she does, no matter the size of the task.
She utilizes every hour of the day and often accomplishes more in 24 hours
than I can even think about doing in half the time.

She has one of the biggest and most giving hearts that I know of.
She is consistently and continually serving everyone around her and by doing so, changes the lives of everyone that she comes in contact with, including me, as she has changed my life forever.

The biggest lesson that I have learned from her is to be brave.
To be brave in going out of my way to serve others, to meet new people, to try new things,
and to share the gospel where ever I go.

Jessica
or
J-SMMMMAAAASSSSHHHH
(said like a monster truck rally announcer)

Jessica has one of the purest hearts of any woman that I know.
If there is anyone that truly understands the divinity and sacredness that comes from being a woman,
it is this girl, and it shows by how she lives her testimony everyday.
And she LIVES it! She stands her ground and is immovable in her convictions.

She is a true nurturer and lover of learning, which is apparent through her patient, giving nature
that she has shown not only to us roommies, but also to the kids that she tutors/teaches.

Jessica has shown me how faith and true discipleship are in the details.
Everyday decisions make a difference.
Hard work pays off.
Positivity can change your world.

annnnddddddd there is not a bad enough day that can't be fixed with a little ice cream,
and an old Cary Grant movie..... *sigh* (mutual old man crush)

Brinley
but you may call her any of the following:
Brindalynn, BBB, or Brindalynn Ballerina

If I could only use one word to describe Brindalynn, it would be "Smile."
She always has one on, even on the worst days, and hers is contagious to everyone around her.
If her smile doesn't get you, her laugh will. She is a genuinely happy person to be around.

If you ever have a problem, Brinley is there to listen.

Classic example of brains and beauty.
She will be starting her Masters degree soon and she's 20 years old. 20, people!!!
So obviously you should already know then that she's a hard worker,
as well as very thought out, planned, and organized.

She gives me motivation to set high goals and to work hard to achieve them.

Plus, this girl can dance circles around anyone on the Wii. I dare you to challenge her.

Welp, there you go.
The women of Stoneleigh #3.
You won't find any better anywhere you go.

Neglected

So I've been neglecting this blog for a while now. I've been a little preoccupied.
This last semester was the semester from HELL.
I don't want to go into details or spend a massive amount of time trying to catch up on my posting because,
1-That would be super boring, & 2- I can't remember. My brain has literally turned to mush.

but long story short.... I survived & it's all over now.
Summer is here & that's all that matters!

I will post a couple of instagram pictures to catch this old blog-er-oo up for personal reasons.
I don't think anyone even reads this blog anymore, and for a while I, myself, didn't even give it a second thought.
But I will post some anyway because it wasn't until a few days ago, when I stayed up most of the night making a memory book with my roomie/bff, Alyssa, that I realized what a blessing this blog actually is (as cheesy as that sounds). It was fun to look back through my blog and remember all of our crazy adventures together.

so here are a few spring time highlights, according to my iPhone.

Easter with the Edwards Family.

Kathryn and Micah flew into Salt Lake for Conference Weekend.

I was a wanna be white rapper at the Ward Talent Show.

I posed for a friend's Bachelors of Fine Arts Portfolio and was put on display at her show.

Helped throw one of my roomies/bffs 21st birthday bash.

& now I am currently in Denver visiting my sister for a week.

This visit has been long awaited and much appreciated!

Until Next Time....
