BUSY, BUSY, BUSY

Does anyone remember Professor Hinkle on Frosty the Snowman?
He was the magician who's hat made Frosty come to life.
Well anyways, his saying "BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!" describes these last 2 weeks perfectly!
(you just gotta hear him say it though)

The happenings of my new college life include:
- Moved in my new dorm!
(but have yet to fully unpack all of my things. pics will come once they are)
- Made it through Thunderbird Flight School
-
Had a crazy infection that made my whole right side of my face swell up, resulting in
a doctor's visit,
a big shot of antibiotics
& a lot of crazy looks from people in my classes.
(lol, sorry but there will be no pics of my Quasimodo face. but good news is infection cleared up)
- Had a "house warming" party at our new apartment
- Made it through my first week of college, alive!
(I love my classes!)
- And a whole lot of little things in between.

So far, so good.
It's been a long week but I'm sure I'll settle into the new schedule soon.
Its a lot harder than what I anticipated.
But if anything I'm learning lots about patience with others
& I have a whole new appreciation for my parents.

I'm sure every college student that has just moved out has said this, but it is very true.

I never thought I would feel this way, but I have gotten a little home sick.
Which is kinda silly since I live 3 minutes away from home but
I think it also has to do with my parents being in Hawaii for the last week.

Which brings me to this week's THANKFUL THURSDAY!
(sorry it's 4 days late, I'll try to do better but it's hard when you don't have your own computer at college)
I am thankful for my FAMILY!
there is no way I could possibly list everything that they do for me
or any way that I could thank them enough for what they do.

They are always so supportive and rally around me whenever I need their advice or help.
I'm thankful that my Dad & bro-in-law, Luke, hold the Priesthood
and how it blesses all of our lives.

I'm thankful that "I have been born of goodly Parents"
who have taught me the true Gospel and have raised me to love the Lord.

I'm thankful to be sealed to them forever!

I love them :D

Hopefully I will post more often when things settle into a groove
& pics will definatly be on their way.
Sorry my posts have been getting pretty boring without them.

A Price Far Above Rubies

"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."
Proverbs 31:10

Today when I was signing up for Institute on line,
this video was on the Church Website as a new Mormon Message.
I haven't had the chance to watch many of these messages
but this particular one caught my eye because of the title,
"Women in Our Lives",
and because it is given by President Hinckley.
I still get chills every time I hear his voice.
He spoke with so much power, it's hard not to feel the Spirit when listening to him.

The message helped lift me up today and I was glad to find that it did for others as well,
as I have talked to or even just read their blogs.
So I decided to share it on my blog so that it could maybe brighten another's day.

I almost didn't watch it because today has been one of those days
that my list of "To Do's" seemed to just keep growing every minute
and nothing was being accomplished.
I didn't think I had time, but I'm glad that I took the time because I have been thinking about its message all day.

I've been thinking and noticing all of the little (and sometimes big)
things that Satan uses to try to deminish our divine roles as women.
I also have been reflecting on the many lessons I have learned in
Young Womens over these past years
and now in Relief Society more recentlly.
I'm grateful to have been brought up in a church that recognizes our worth and teaches that we
"Are Daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us & we love Him."
I recited the Young Women's theme many times in my mind today,
realizing that for as many times as I have said that,
I never realized the power and truth that are in those inspired words.
I wish I could tell every girl out there how true that theme really is.

I am not always the best at remembering my worth,
what girl doesn't struggle with that from time to time?!
Sometimes I feel like because I'm not a wife or a mother yet
that my daily efforts are insignifigant and somewhat silly.
I am glad for a Heavenly Father who understands me and realizes I am trying my best.

I love this quote by Jeffery R. Holland. It's kinda long, but so so good!

"First of all, I want you to be proud you are a woman. I want you to feel the reality of what that means, to know who you truly are. You are literally a spirit daughter of heavenly parents with a divine nature and an eternal destiny. That surpassing truth should be fixed deep in your soul and be fundamental to every decision you make as you grow into mature womanhood. There could never be a greater authentication of your dignity, your worth, your privileges, and your promise. Your Father in Heaven knows your name and knows your circumstance. He hears your prayers. He knows your hopes and dreams, including your fears and frustrations. And He knows what you can become through faith in Him. Because of this divine heritage you, along with all of your spiritual sisters and brothers, have full equality in His sight and are empowered through obedience to become a rightful heir in His eternal kingdom, an “[heir] of God, and joint-[heir] with Christ.” Seek to comprehend the significance of these doctrines. Everything Christ taught He taught to women as well as men. Indeed, in the restored light of the gospel of Jesus Christ, a woman, including a young woman, occupies a majesty all her own in the divine design of the Creator. You are, as Elder James E. Talmage once phrased it, “a sanctified investiture which none shall dare profane.”

What a great testimony to all of us girls how important we really are!

For Me!?

What A Sweet Surprise! :D
Nothing can beat a bouquet of pretty flowers accompanied by a cute boy!

BIG Weekend

This has been a wild and crazy weekend!
let me catch up...

First off, this week's THANKFUL THURSDAY is dedicated towards...
(even though I didn't post on Thurs., I still picked one)
EDUCATION!

School is right around the corner
and although it would be nice to have some more Summer time
I am grateful for the chance, especially as a girl,
to have the opportunity to learn and choose what I want to learn about.

So I've set a goal, that to show my gratitude I am not going to take my Education for granted.
This year I'm going to be more on top of my studies and not procrastinate.
I'm also going to try to have a more positive attitude and not complain
because there are plenty of people who would make bigger sacrifices than I will ever have to make for the opportunities I have everyday.

OK, on with the rest of the weekend!

Thursday was my Orientation at SUU
and it was a very long day.
Basically 9 hours of information that could have been condensed into maybe 3 or 4 hours.
But oh well, at the very least it got me excited for school to start & it did have some important information.

I also attended a Surprise Party for Mariah.
Her birthday really isn't until the 31st
but Alex Jones and Holly were just in a surprising mood that day.

Mariah's reaction was priceless :)
(sorry that it is sideways, I couldn't flip it right side up. I guess everyone will just have to tilt their heads.)

Friday I worked a few hours at the good Ol' Library
before I went to the Institute Dance with Colter.
I'm still working on my dancing, I'm not the most graceful in the bunch.

Saturday the Library was closed, so NO WORK FOR ME! :)
So I spent the day working on getting things ready for my big move to the dorms.
By the way, the countdown is now down to 3 days!

I also picked up by books for classes and got things ready for my sister's birthday on Sunday.
Later in the evening, after dinner at Applebee's,
Colter & I met up with some friends
for a late night get together at Denny's,
where we played with & some people even chose to eat Playdough.

Sunday was Kathryn's Birthday!
She is now a whopping 22 years of age.
After church & attending Kyler Davis' mission farewell talk,
(which by the way he did a fabulous job &
I have no doubt that he will greatly bless the people in New Zealand with his testimony.)
we had a birthday dinner for her, followed by cake and ice cream later on in the evening.
(p.s. stay tuned for pictures of Kathryn's birthday party)

She is such I great person and I'm always so proud to say that she is MY sister.
Even though from time to time we have our differences, she is ALWAYS there!
Especially lately, even though she is busy with,
1.) a baby on the way
2.)student teaching coming up
& 3.) moving into a new apartment
she still finds time to listen to my little problems and advice me on the correct choices to make.

I love her and hope that one day I can be like her.

All in All, it was a busy, but fun weekend.
Probably nothing compared to this upcoming week.
Wish me luck, it's going to get pretty hectic!

COUNTDOWNS!

I move in 13 days!
Count them, THIRTEEN!

I can't wait, I'm so, so, very excited!
(okay, and a wee bit nervous)
It'll be weird living on my own.

Let me introduce everyone to my new home for the next school year....
TA DA!
Eccles Living & Learning Center

There is still so much to do in the next 13 days
(I like to say that number, it's so fun!)
I don't have anything for my new apartment, EEEK!
This means I need to go shopping :)

I gotta get stuff like:
- sheets & a bedspread to fit my bed
- supplies for my desk
- storage containers
- towels
- bathroom supplies
- dishes & pots/pans
- utensils
And I'm sure I will add to the list as it gets closer.

AND there is still so much I need to do before
school starts, which is in 18 days!

Things to do before then:

- fix my schedule to fit in LM 1010
(I was signed up for it, but all of my bosses, who all teach that class,
told me I had a bad teacher and to sign up with one of them.)

- Sign up for INSTITUTE :)
-
Buy all my books
- Buy School Supplies (before all the cute notebooks are gone)
- Get a few new School Clothes
- Work my tail off to pay for all of this stuff
And Most Importantly
- PARTY IT UP FOR THE REST OF THE SUMMER!

but before I do any of these things, I must clean my room :(

good thing I have the next 4 days off of work to start working on my lists
& that the library changes to new hours of 8AM- 5PM for the next 2 weeks starting on Mon.
This will give me some extra time, which is a blessing

Showing Gratitude

"He who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious."
Doctrine and Covenants 78:19

I have so much to be thankful for that I decided that I would post a

THANKFUL
THURSDAY

every week.

(well at least try to post every week)

Even though I have multiple, multiple, blessings,
I'm going to pick just one and try to focus on it for the next week
and what I can do to show my gratitude for it.

So my first THANKFUL THURSDAY is dedicated to:
(Drum Roll Please...)

MY TESTIMONY

Even though I missed Fast & Testimony Meeting last Sunday,
(I was out with a back injury)

I am going to focus on how I can show my gratitude for the truth that I know by sharing my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ & his true church with those around me, both by words and actions
.
