Baby Showerin'

This last Saturday my mom and I threw my older sister a baby shower at the Garden House.
Kathryn in 8 months along and is expecting a baby boy.
Her and Luke have decided to name him

The shower was lots of fun, we had a great turn out.
It is obvious how loved Kathryn is
and how much Micah will be and already is.
We're all excited to meet him.
There is no doubt that he is going to be spoiled, being that he is the first grandchild on both his parents' sides.
(Not to mention a very excited "Aunt-to-be")

It will be a fun adventure for all of us! :D

I love this season.
It always seems to go by so fast
and living in Cedar City, it usually gets cut off extra early with that blasted snow.
(I'm glad our recent remnants of our first storm have melted.
Much too early for that stuff!)

There is such a comfy and cozy feeling about autumn.
No need for the winter coat yet, just a nice fuzzy sweatshirt.

Does anyone remember the "You've Got Mail" quote
Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) writes to his secret pen pal,
Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan), about fall?

"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly-sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."

I feel the same way, something in the air makes me in the mood for certain things.
Maybe not the school supplies, being that I'm just trying to get through
the semester without going insane but there are other things.

- Like lately I'm in the mood to bake... ALL THE TIME!
I find myself constantly looking for fun recipes that have to do with the season.
I love fall flavors, like apple, squash and pumpkin.

Now if I only had the time to try them out.
I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving so I'll have more time to bake.

But I don't think you will catch me near the turkey.
I'm all about the baking of cute and fun desserts, not the ripping out of the insides of a bird.

I'm a chicken, or should I say "turkey" when it comes to guts.
HAHAHA, ya I know that was cheesy but I couldn't resist my witty pun.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

- Another thing that I have been in the mood for is Hot Chocolate,
the real stuff-not the Frozen variety at
DQ that I'm semi obsessed with.
Especially in the evening by the fire doing homework.
And while I'm making it, I like to sing in my head
(OK, sometimes out loud as well, but only if home alone)
the Hot Chocolate song on the movie, The Polar Express.

"Hot! Hot!

Ooh, we got it!
Hot! Hot!
Hey, we got it!
Hot! Hot!
Say, we got it!
Hot chocolate!"

OOH, how I love it!

- One of the main reason I love fall so much is the emphasis
put on Thankfulness and Families.
Obviously a lot of that has to do with the Thanksgiving holiday,
but I still find myself thinking about my blessings long before November.
I love the traditions (my favorite part of the holidays) and the unity they bring along with them.
I can't wait to pass them along to my future family.

I wish this season could last just a bit longer, but then maybe that's why I cherish it so much.
I need to enjoy it while it lasts :D

oh, I almost forgot, I know its been FOREVER since I've posted a Thankful Thursday.
sorry about that, I still pick one even if I don't post it.

This week I'm thankful for my right to vote, especially as a woman.
I voted on Tuesday in my local election and I'm quite pleased with the outcome.
I think these new political officers will do great things in our community.

I'm also thankful for voting days, because that means that I get to go with my dad (and sometimes my mom)
to the booths and then to get some lunch.
I enjoy that :)
