It's Tradish

Annual Girls Christmas Catch-Up Lunch
{Natalie, Rachel, Dorothy, Becca, Me, Quincey, Melanie}

LOVE THEM :)

Turning Two

Micah has entered the Terrible Terrific Two's!
We had to celebrate about a week after his real birthday
since they didn't come to Cedar until Saturday.
We had a Mickey Mouse party since he loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
and we were so glad that both sets of Micah's family were there.

{ I know it looks like he blinked,
but he's really saying a really big "CHEEEEESE" }

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICAH!

Lights All Aglow

Last minute, Dorothy and I decided to head to
Salt Lake for an adventure yesterday.

We got some Christmas shopping done at the Gateway,
ate thee most delicious dinner,
and met up with Jessica to see the lights at Temple Square.

It was a much needed break from these crazy last few days of the semester.

{ Dinner at Z'tajas. Took us all night to figure out how to say that... }

{ Shopping at the Gateway }

{ & finally... TEMPLE SQUARE! }

{ crowded... }

{ love them }

Thanks(for)giving

I just got back from Denver
& one of my most favorite Thanksgiving Breaks, ever!
(minus the long hours in the airport...)

It was sooo great to have a break from school and see my fam.
Can you believe how big Micah is!?
I couldn't either!

{ Dinner in Downtown Denver }

{ The, the, the Beast Feast! }

{ Wishbone }

{ Sister Brown and Sister Rice joined us for Thanksgiving Dinner }

{ Santa Land at Bass Pro Shop (Micah's all time favorite store) }

{ Riding the Carousel }

I miss them already.
Good thing they'll be in Cedar in less than 3 weeks!
Can't wait to see them again!
Well that is if I can survive 2 more weeks of school and 1 week of Finals.
Not to mention the dropping Logan temperatures...

Thanks for giving all of us such a great
Thanksgiving, Kathryn & Luke
!

Amanda

"Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection—Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men, whether they be good or evil,
are taken
home to that God who gave them life."
--Alma 40:11

My friend/visiting teacher, Amanda, passed away on Thursday.
I actually found out this morning while being visit taught.
I asked about her, fully expecting to hear that she's doing fine.
I'm still in shock. I had just texted her earlier this week.

When I first moved to Logan, I didn't know a soul in my ward.
I didn't have any roommates or friends to go with/sit with at church.
(i had friends, just none that lived by me)

Amanda and her partner, Jamie, were the answer I needed to my prayer.
We've all had those visiting teaching experiences where every month, it's like pulling teeth to have a conversation and it's always super awkward.
Never like that with them. What a blessing they were.
They came to visit and I felt like within the first few minutes that we were all old friends.

Amanda continued to befriend me and contact me this whole semester,
even though she had moved back home for personal reasons and was no longer my v.t.

Listening to the effect that Amanda had on almost everyone in our Relief Society as we talked about her today made me realize, even more so, what a truly outstanding, special person she was.
She had more than her fair share of trials, and yet she still always made sure to ask how my day was going and made sure that I was alright. She was always sincere in caring about others and truly touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with.

I feel almost like I don't have the right to be so upset,
being that I only knew her for 2 and 1/2 months,
where there are people who have loved her for years and years.
But that was the thing with her
(and I'm pretty sure that she made everyone feel this way),

Amanda loved you from the minute she met you.
And you loved her back.

I am incredibly grateful, beyond words,
for my knowledge of the Plan of Salvation.

To know where my loved ones go when they leave this earth and to have the reassurance that I will see them again. I am grateful for the comfort of the Spirit, especially in times of such heartache. I am grateful that God sends us those special spirits, like Amanda, to answer our prayers and be His instruments down here on earth. I'm grateful to Amanda for being my friend and taking the time to get to know me, especially when she had so many other obligations.

I look forward to the day that we will be able to hang out again,
only this time we will be in the presence of our Heavenly Father
and Savior, Jesus Christ.
That will be a very happy reunion. :)

2 Weeks Notice

Two weeks from today I'll be in Denver
with my favorite sister.

We're both kinda excited.

This is the text message I got at work today:

"Hello my sister. Love ya pal.
Wanna chat soon?
Where are you Christmas, why can't i find you...
wanna give you a big hug and pat your bum!
Two weeks from today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

{ yes, I felt just like this while reading it...}

crazy thing is,
that's not even a taste of the kinds of messages she leaves me.

Not gonna lie though, I love getting her crazy messages.
Except for her (no exaggeration) 5 minute voice mails
in which she has pretend conversations with people about
how great of sisters we are.
ok, I guess I loved that one too.

hope I make it through these next two weeks of school...
