On Solid Ground

This summer, I'm taking an evening Institute class,
"Teachings of the Prophets", where we study talks from the most recent General Conference.
This week's was, "The Why of Priesthood Service"  by Dieter F. Uchtdorf

There was one particular line that stuck out to me.
"There are times when we have to
step into the darkness in Faith,
confident that God will place solid ground beneath
                                                                            our feet once we do."

I don't know why this is so hard for most people, especially me, because there has never been a time that
Heavenly Father has let me down when I placed my complete faith in Him and His plan for me.
You would think after proving this to me time and time again, that I would be quick to trust Him more fully.
But at last, I'm still learning and struggling with the fear of the unknown.

I was just reflecting on different times when I had to do as Pres. Uchtdorf has counseled, and stepped into the darkness. One time in particular, about a year ago when I was struggling with transferring to BYU or USU. Of course, hindsight is 20/20 so I can see now how stubborn I was being. Clearly, everything was pointing to USU but I was bound and determined to do things my way. It wasn't until I took that leap of faith that everything worked out,
and my feet were finally on some "solid ground."

I'm so thankful that Heavenly Father was patient enough with me to keep nudging and prodding me to have faith in His plan because I'm so happy with the decisions and opportunities that He has lead me to. I'm not saying that these decisions or opportunities have all been easy, but they have all been worth it.
I'm happy with where I am in life and am excited for the future. :)

Father's Day

This Father's Day, I'm the one that got spoiled.
My parents came up for the weekend and I gave them the grand tour of Logan.
(they came up about a week after I moved here and I tried to show them around then,
only I didn't know anything to show them, so this time around it went much better.)

We spent the weekend touring campus, dragging main, summer fest-ing, shopping, and eating.
I'm pretty lucky to have such a great family.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!
You are the best guy I know and I count you as one of my bestest friends in the world.
You've taught me invaluable life lessons such as
"clean as you go", and  "pick up your shoes" ;)
just to name a few.
Thanks for all you do for me, dad, seriously!
